Julie Lewis

Julie Lewis has worked in diabetes services since 2002, as a Researcher, a Diabetes Specialist Nurse and a Clinical Lead for Diabetes in her health board.

In addition to her clinical lead role, Julie continues to practice as a consultant nurse in primary care diabetes, and a seconded role to the NHS Executive in Wales as lead nurse for diabetes (adults). Julie is a founder member of the Welsh Academy for Nursing in Diabetes (WAND) and has a particular interest in developing career pathways in diabetes nursing and healthcare professional education. She holds an honorary contract as senior clinical tutor for diabetes MSc, module development, teaching and peer review with Swansea University.

Julie joined the PCDS committee in 2019, and was elected as co-vice chair of PCDS in November 2023.
